Hello!
I'm Danish S. Khatri—father, engineer, and perpetual entrepreneur-in-training—author of Ten Dollar Adventure. The photo is from one of my most memorable entrepreneurial journeys developing a 9 ft (2.74m), 360 lb (158.8 kg) air disinfection system at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a parent of two wonderfully inquisitive children, I started writing this book to teach them the value of money.
After some introspection about my professional life, I became enamored with the idea that they should instead be learning and practicing something more foundational—Entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship is about identifying problems and creating solutions of value. It's a methodology we can introduce to our children at an earlier age. Entrepreneurship can help solve a large set of problems, and its practice can help children build many useful skills: resourcefulness, collaboration, communication, and tool development.
We want our children to be creative, systematic thinkers, and resourceful individuals. Ten Dollar Adventure provides a fun and engaging way for kids to learn creative problem-solving and the value of money. Readers join Daphne in her week-long entrepreneurial adventure, helping Daphne make choices when faced with challenges. Each choice results in a new path in the story, allowing readers to experience multiple storylines within the book.
As an electrical engineer with degrees from MIT, I bring a unique perspective to parenting and storytelling. I live in Los Angeles, California with my wife—pediatrician and mom-extraordinaire—Danielle and our two Chicaloos, who are an infinite source of inspiration and motivation.
To Ten Dollar Adventure planting the seed for ten thousand journeys of entrepreneurial discovery!
